Chasing Trail

Chasing Trail

About Me

A woman standing in "The Window" on The Wave Arizona hiking trail

Hi, and thanks for being here! I’m Taryn, the person behind Chasing Trail. I live in the perpetually sunny southern Arizona desert and have two kiddos, “P” (4) and “O” (6).

I’m a full-time freelance travel writer, have one tattoo, drink too much coffee and probably talk a little too much, always eat one-too-many tacos, work way too hard, and don’t sleep nearly enough. I also lead a very busy, full lifestyle and as the saying goes, I’ve lived a lot of life — which is largely why I created Chasing Trail.

2020 was a transformative year for so many of us, for better or for worse. I’ve always been “outdoorsy” and loved to travel, but last year it (“it” being adventure travel) became a form of therapy for me. My church, medicine, and therapy all rolled into one, if you will.

Making an effort to unplug, get outside and explore, and just be with myself and my thoughts, as well as the people in my very small inner circle, changed me in ways I never imagined. Finally, at age…well, thirtysomething…I can honestly say I’ve come into my own. My hope is that part of my journey resonates with you!

Chasing Trail exists to help people explore the world’s hidden gems — the underrated and often overlooked places and activities, which are often in the middle of wildly popular destinations. It usually takes a bit more effort, but isn’t the journey the real destination anyway? So have a look around, I hope you’ll stay awhile. Cheers!

Hi, I’m Taryn!

Hi, I’m Taryn!

I travel extensively, hike kind of a lot, am a champion of the underdog, definitely don't identify as 'indoorsy,' have a serious love affair with glamping, believe life largely revolves around eating and drinking well, and I'm a wannabe photographer. If any of that resonates with you, let's connect!
