Glamping Near Glacier National Park
Psst…need some help putting together a full itinerary for Glacier? We got you, with a massive, super detailed itinerary for 1-5 days in the park.
1. Baseglamp
- Location: Whitefish
- Perks: Amazing location, cedar hot tubs, en suite bathrooms, and year-round Montana glamping
- Glamping type: Ultra-luxe geodesic domes
- Dog-friendly? No
We’ve stayed in a lot of geodesic domes. A LOT. Baseglamp is easily, hands-down, far and away, the nicest of them all. To be honest, it’s almost difficult to call this Montana glamping.
Each dome has electricity and an en suite bathroom. They’re not basic, either — top of the line European-style bathrooms with walk-in showers and flush toilets. Outside, you’ll find a private cedar hot tub and seating area, and some domes have decks.
The domes have air-conditioning, heat, AND a wood-burning stove, so you’ll be comfy in any season. That’s right, Baseglamp is one of just a few places you can go glamping in Montana in winter.
Fun fact: we stayed here in November during a freak snowstorm, and actually got HOT inside!
Choose between a single queen or king dome, or mezzanine domes. These amazing domes have a lofted mezzanine with a second bed, accessed via a set of stairs. They really maximize the domes without sacrificing any space, and also offer a bit of privacy. Amazing for families!
As if all that weren’t enough, there’s also a central hangout barn and grilling area. There’s a TV lounge with movies and video games, plenty of seating, and yard games. Every dome has dedicated fridge space and a food storage bin here, too, as a bear safety measure.
To clarify, the domes have a coffee set-up, sink, and mini fridge for storing drinks, but guests are asked not to prep or store food in them. Bears (and other critters!) are a very real thing in Montana.
Baseglamp’s location is equally awesome. It sits on 20 pristine acres northwest of Whitefish, tucked just off the 93, and exactly one hour from West Glacier. Not only can you enjoy postcard-perfect Whitefish, but you’re close to all the best things to do in Glacier National Park!
Yes, there are closer options for glamping in Glacier National Park, but Baseglamp is in a category all its own. Plus, the drive gives you an excuse to stop in Whitefish! If you do (you should!), stop into Montana Coffee Traders, get a beer at Bonsai Brewing Project, and browse The Toggery.
2. ROAM Beyond Glacier
- Location: Columbia Falls
- Perks: Super close to Glacier, truly unique stay, amazing views and sunsets from the property, cool adult summer camp vibe, and tons of onsite amenities
- Glamping type: One-of-a-kind, hand-built, off-grid ‘roaming cabins’
- Dog-friendly? Yes
If your heart is set on glamping near Glacier National Park, make a beeline for ROAM Beyond. The property is an easy 20-some-minute drive from the park’s West Glacier Entrance, nestled just outside the town of Columbia Falls.
Looking for an easy, gorgeous hike to break up the BIG hiking days in Glacier? Check out Sun Point Nature Trail!
Its location is definitely reason enough to stay at ROAM Beyond Glacier, but the real reason is for the totally unique experience.
Yes, we’re talking about Montana glamping, but still…nothing about ROAM is “cookie cutter,” from the handcrafted, one-of-a-kind off-grid Homegrown Trailers to the personalized one-on-one check-in and the almost unreasonably beautiful sunsets.
In each of the ‘roaming cabins,’ you’ll find lighting, a refrigerator, induction stovetop, a bathroom with a shower and toilet, space heater, and outlets galore for charging all your devices (yes, they really are off-grid — they’re solar-powered — but you’d never know it).
There’s also luxurious, cozy bedding, dishes and cooking utensils, and all the supplies for morning coffee. All cabins include a private outdoor fire pit, and some also have a spacious covered outdoor kitchen and lounge area with a picnic table and grill.
You have a choice of two cabin models at ROAM Beyond Glacier, the Dinette or Bunk.
- Dinette: one queen bed and a dining table that converts to a twin bed
- Bunk: one queen bed and a set of bunk beds; no dining table
Perhaps best of all, pups can join their owners for this particular glamping in Montana experience. ROAM Beyond Glacier is dog-friendly!
Guests also have access to several community amenities. Head up to the Schoolhouse for complimentary coffee and tea each morning, wi-fi, or to play some board games. At the Barn, you’ll find every type of grill and cooktop imaginable, plus seating and ping-pong tables.
There’s also a fishing pond, a community bonfire with s’mores most nights, and complimentary loaner bikes (and longboards!) to cruise around.
3. Montana Treehouse Retreat
- Location: Columbia Falls
- Perks: Super private, 25 minutes from Glacier, full bathroom and kitchen, will make everyone on social media jealous
- Glamping type: Luxury treehouses
- Dog-friendly? No
It doesn’t get much more dreamy than glamping in Montana in an authentic treehouse. And when we say Montana treehouse, we mean it very literally.
Three living trees grow through the Meadlowlark Treehouse at Montana Treehouse Retreat, and DIY Network’s The Treehouse Guys built it. The two-story treehouse was constructed using almost entirely locally sourced materials, including several trees from the owners’ property.
The treehouse has a very “Montana” feel, with rustic touches throughout including lots of exposed wood and soft, cozy textiles. Make no mistake, though, it’s also notably luxurious.
There’s air-conditioning and heat, a Tempur-Pedic mattress, a well-equipped kitchen, and two “real” bathrooms with full plumbing. This may be glamping near Glacier National Park, but it’s hardly “roughing it.”
While this is technically glamping in Montana, every detail of the treehouse is thoughtful and intentional. As owner Kati puts it, “There’s a story behind everything in the treehouse.” For example, the wood for the breakfast nook downstairs came from a tree on the property.
The master bedroom and private deck overlook the forest, making you feel as if you’re miles away from civilization.
You’re not, though — situated in Columbia Falls, “the gateway to Glacier National Park,” Montana Treehouse Retreat is just 25 minutes from the park’s west entrance, 10 minutes from the airport in Kalispell, and 15 minutes from Whitefish Mountain Resort.
Montana Treehouse Retreat also has a second treehouse on property, the “Raven’s Nest.” This slightly larger A-frame features two bedrooms (one with a king bed) and a to-die-for soaking tub.
4. Flathead Lake Treehouse Tent
- Location: Bigfork
- Perks: Cedar sauna, cold plunge, outdoor shower, amazing location overlooking Flathead Lake
- Glamping type: 16×20′ wall tent
- Dog-friendly? No
Overlooking spectacular Flathead Lake, this elaborate treehouse tent offers some of the best glamping near Glacier National Park.
Fun fact: Flathead is the largest freshwater natural lake in the western US by surface area (excluding Alaska). It’s also one of the cleanest lakes in the country!
The dreamy treehouse tent is 50 minutes from the park’s Apgar entrance in an adorable lakeside town called Bigfork. Enjoy literally bringing the outdoors in with the walk-out deck and peek-a-boo lake views. Trust us when we tell you to zip only the mesh flaps and sleep in the open air!
Although the king bed is outrageously comfy and the wood stove sets an amazing vibe, the real stars of this Montana glamping spot are all outside. Head down to the lower deck, where you’ll find a cedar sauna, cold plunge tub, and a (warm!) outdoor shower.
A mountain spring feeds the shower and cold plunge, but it’s important to note that the bathroom is a porta-John. It’s clean and pretty standard when glamping in Montana, but worth mentioning. It’s literally steps downstairs, plus it’s one of the most scenic places ever to do your business!
The property’s location is a vibe all on its own. The tent is perched above 7 acres of cherry and apple orchards (for those who don’t know, the eastern shore of Flathead Lake is a renowned cherry-growing region!). During the summer season, you may even be able to pick your own cherries!
Just down the street, don’t miss a few fantastic lakeside restaurants: The Raven, Bonfire, and Flathead Lake Brewing Co.
Glamping Near Yellowstone
5. Yellowstone Tipis
- Location: Gardiner
- Perks: Literally right outside the park and in the heart of Gardiner, plus lots of amenities
- Glamping type: Luxury tipis
- Dog-friendly? No
Love the idea of glamping in Montana in a tipi and want to enjoy a few days in Yellowstone National Park? Check out Yellowstone Tipis.
Want more details? We wrote a full guide on staying at Yellowstone Tipis!
The property is absolutely beautiful, set slightly up a hill overlooking Gardiner and Yellowstone’s North Entrance. You’re surrounded by mountain views, yet you can sit down to dinner or hop on a tour within minutes.
Insider tip: This is the only year-round entrance; the other four close seasonally. It’s also the only place to experience whitewater rafting in Yellowstone! The outfitters are literally 3-4 minutes away.
Individual tipis are 360 square feet (more spacious inside than you think!) and have either one king bed or two queens. Inside, there’s electricity, a fan and space heater, cozy heated mattress covers, a large dresser, and seating. Additionally, the entire property has wi-fi.
The decor inside and exterior paintings are also bespoke, so no two are alike.
Like many other Montana glamping properties, you won’t find bathrooms inside the tipis. However, there are brand new private bathhouses a short walk away. Each tipi is assigned to one, so only your group will use yours.
Up at the Tipi Lodge Lounge (where you check in), guests have access to several other amenities. There’s a complimentary breakfast and coffee bar, community fire pit, indoor and outdoor tables, and a TV lounge with games and books.
Yellowstone Tipis has one other thing that sets it apart from any other Yellowstone glamping: the Hawkeye Suite. This brand new, 4-bedroom suite (not a tipi) sleeps 10 and is available year-round. Overlooking the entire property, it’s ideal for groups, weddings, and winter visitors.
6. Bodhi Farms
- Location: Bozeman
- Perks: Minutes from downtown Bozeman, incredible onsite restaurant and sauna, and tons of activities
- Glamping type: Luxury tipis
- Dog-friendly? Yes
Bodhi Farms sets the bar incredibly high for glamping in Montana. The property, just minutes from downtown Bozeman, features luxurious Nordic tipis, as well as a creekside spa, sauna, onsite yoga, restaurant and bar, and even a permaculture farm.
The tipis strike a perfect balance between rustic and luxurious.
They have electricity but no TVs, limited wi-fi, outrageously comfortable beds with top-notch linens, heat for the cool Montana nights, two large patios with private hammocks, and — most importantly — an elaborate coffee setup with all the fixin’s.
Standard with most Montana glamping experiences, the tipis don’t have en suite bathrooms. However, there are two shared indoor/outdoor bathhouses with showers, plus several other restroom facilities across the property.
This is a great time to mention that everything at Bodhi Farms is done as sustainably as possible. For example, the water is UV-treated (as opposed to chemically treated) and Bodhi’s UV filtration system was one of the very first in Montana!
As impressive as that all is (and I could keep going…), the real reason to stay at Bodhi Farms is the community vibe. Everything centers around community.
Dinner is served nightly at long shared picnic tables and afterwards, everyone enjoys adult beverages and s’mores boards around the campfire.
You’ll be on a first-name basis with the owners, as well as their children and dogs. By the end of Day One, and I guarantee you’ll have made some new Montana glamping friends, too.
Back to dinner…eat here! All ingredients used are local, and many of them are grown onsite. The bison burger and chimichurri chicken rank among the most memorable meals of my life, and the laid-back al fresco dining can’t be beat.
Finally, Bodhi’s location is basically perfect (told ya it sets the bar high!). There aren’t many options for glamping near Yellowstone National Park, but trust me, you don’t need any others!
You’re super close to the park, minutes from downtown Bozeman and the Custer Gallatin National Forest, and a short drive from Big Sky, one of the best ski towns anywhere.
7. Dreamcatcher Tipi Hotel
- Location: Gardiner
- Perks: Riverfront location, complimentary breakfast, nightly community bonfire with s’mores kits and adult beverages
- Glamping type: Luxury tipis
- Dog-friendly? Yes
Dreamcatcher Tipi Hotel is also in Gardiner and close to Yellowstone Tipis, but has its own unique offerings.
This pet-friendly Yellowstone glamping hotel sits directly on the banks of the Yellowstone River just five miles from the park’s north entrance.
Every one of the gorgeous 22-foot tipis is uniquely decorated, so no two are alike. They’re also outrageously comfortable and luxurious, with electricity, heating, memory foam mattresses, wi-fi, breathtaking mountain views, and private fire pits.
Dreamcatcher also has a community fire pit, where guests can enjoy complimentary nightly s’mores + cocktails happy hour.
While the tipis don’t have individual bathrooms (this is Yellowstone glamping, after all — you’re supposed to “rough it!”), the community bathhouse with private bathrooms more than makes up for it. Think heated floors and rainfall showerheads!
Other Places to Experience Montana Glamping
8. The Hohnstead
- Location: Bonner
- Perks: Stunning property, choice of accommodation type, Commons Area with tons of amenities, amazing hosts
- Glamping type: Off-grid tiny cabins and luxury wall tent
- Dog-friendly? Yes
At this point, it’s safe to say we know our stuff when it comes to glamping in Montana, no? So you’ll have to trust us when we say The Hohnstead is the best of the best.
The 110-acre property about 30 minutes from the Missoula Airport is incredibly special. It’s mountainous, forested, and rugged, and this family has poured literal blood, sweat, and tears into making it magical.
Choose from five unique glamping experiences, each with a wildly different vibe.
- Ranch Hand: Western-themed wall tent with electricity and spectacular views
- A-Frame: Insta-famous tiny A-frame with a transforming wall/door and massive deck
- The Shanty: The Hohnstead’s OG, a rustic tiny cabin with solar and a queen bed in the loft
- The Blind: Secluded, off-grid tiny A-frame with clear roof panels for stargazing from bed
- The Shed: Boho artists’ retreat attached to the commons area, with electricity and wi-fi
At the heart of the property is the Commons Area, home to loads of shared amenities. There’s a community kitchen with every imaginable pot, pan, utensil, and spice, various hangout and work areas, Starlink wi-fi, and dedicated fridge and dry storage for each cabin.
The owners even have inflatable kayak, SUP, inner tube, and life vest rentals available up here. Best of all, though, is the scavenger hunt backpack. Don’t ask, just plan to do the scavenger hunt!
Also near the Commons Area, you’ll find outdoor showers, a hot tub, and a large fire pit. The hot tub is communal, but you can reserve a private time slot.
One last thing…the owners are the BEST humans. Alla and Garrett (who built everything you see with their hands, btw) are the sweetest, most down-to-Earth, badass couple ever. Garrett brews beer and shares it!, Alla is a photographer who teaches yoga, and they have the coolest story.
Bottom line: book a stay at The Hohnstead and when you do, make an effort to hang with A&G. Well, only if you’re a fun-haver, that is.

9. Tobacco River Ranch Glamping
- Location: Eureka
- Perks: Riverfront, secluded, close to Lake Koocanusa and Kootenai Falls
- Glamping type: Converted historic Forest Service cabins, vintage Airstreams, A-frame cabin, and bell tent
- Dog-friendly? Yes
You’ll fall in love with the tiny town of Eureka long before you actually arrive. It’s barely south of the Canada border on Highway 93, which happens to be one of the most scenic stretches of road in the U.S.
Then, when you arrive at Tobacco River Ranch, you’ll immediately realize that it lives up to the expectations the drive set. The 450-plus-acre property sits directly on the Tobacco River just outside ‘downtown’ and has sweeping views of the Canadian Rockies in every direction.
Even more impressive, though, are the cabins and the thought that went into building them.
For example, the Ranch Hand was originally one large forest service logging cabin. Owners Nikki and Carl physically cut the structure into smaller sections to create two rustic cabins.
We stayed in the Ranch Hand, perched high up on a hill with incredible mountain and river views. We could almost feel the history in the wood.
No two cabins are alike, but each of them is positioned to have plenty of privacy and epic views. Ours had an enormous deck facing the river, where we watched the sunset every night. Now this is what glamping in Montana is all about!
When hunger strikes or you’re ready to shower, head to the community kitchen and shower house. It’s conveniently just a short walk from the Montana glamping cabins. This is also a great spot to use your phone, as you likely won’t have service in your cabin.
Down the hill along the river, there’s another historic cabin and several vintage Airstreams and other campers. This area has a cool campsite vibe with shared picnic tables and its own community kitchen.
Of course, there’s direct river access for fishing and tubing. And they even provide the tubes!
Need another reason to book a stay at Tobacco River Ranch? The Pacific Northwest Trail and the Great American Rail-Trail (commonly referred to as “Rails to Trails”) both run right through the property.
Even better, the owners granted the county an easement for thru-hikers and they’re creating a “Trail Angel” station!
10. Northwest Montana Retreat
- Location: Troy
- Perks: An opportunity to genuinely unplug in a highly underrated, little-visited part of Montana
- Glamping type: Off-grid tiny cabin and Airstream
- Dog-friendly? Yes
This hidden gem is the epitome of glamping in Montana. To begin with, the location is truly a retreat: it’s nestled into Troy, a tiny but spectacularly beautiful town on the Kootenai River near the Idaho border.
Owners Dani and Hy are some of the most generous humans ever, and they have poured love and care into this property.
Northwest Montana Retreat features both an off-grid cabin and an authentic vintage Airstream.
In the Airstream, aptly named “Cozy Roller,” you’ll find a spacious deck, hammock, and indoor and outdoor dining spaces. Best of all, though, is the private antique clawfoot tub outside and direct access to a wood-fired sauna.
The tiny cabin is both off-grid and luxurious. It has elements of camping — you’ll cook your meals outdoors and bathe in the forest, if at all — but you’ll also get one of the best night’s sleep of your life.
The views of the Cabinet Mountain Wilderness and the little pond out front are worth the stay themselves. You can also fish for trout in the creek just steps away. If that doesn’t say glamping in Montana, we don’t know what does!
To make your getaway even more memorable, book one of the thoughtful add-ons including forest bathing, a creekside picnic, or a private spoon carving workshop.
The entire property is off-grid, but certainly not short on luxurious amenities. There’s no wi-fi and you likely (hopefully!) won’t have cell service, allowing you to fully embrace the Montana glamping experience and enjoy an intentional getaway.
Bring a book and sink into the comfy bed or swing in the hammock, or go explore Kootenai Falls and Libby, just 20 minutes away. Oh, and bring your pup, too — Northwest Montana Retreat is dog-friendly.
Fun fact: Dani and Hy built everything you see at Northwest Montana Retreat themselves. #couplegoals

I also at Under Canvas Yellowstone last summer and it was magical! Such a special place – and a great choice for a honeymoon! 🙂
We were a little hesitant initially because it’s a bit pricey, but it was 1000% worth it. We can’t wait to stay at another Under Canvas again.

Tam RossTotally agree with you – unique stays like luxury glamping are definitely not the least expensive option, but they’re well worth the experience.
