Unforgettable Yellowstone Glamping: Yellowstone Tipis

A trip to Yellowstone National Park is bucket list-worthy in itself, but one way to make it even more memorable is to experience Yellowstone glamping. At Yellowstone Tipis, youโll stay in an authentic canvas tipi with plenty of upscale amenities, while being just steps from the park.ย
Yellowstone National Park is home to some of the worldโs most stunning landscapes, spectacular natural wonders, and abundant wildlife. Itโs truly a one-of-a-kind, magical place to visit โ and a stay at Yellowstone Tipis only enhances this magic.ย
Not only do the tipis offer an unforgettable Montana glamping experience, theyโre also about as close as you can get to the park without staying IN the park.
Yellowstone Tipis is in Gardiner, just four minutes from the North Entrance (the only one open year-round and the only place you can go whitewater rafting in the park!).ย
While Yellowstone and Gardiner are both infamous for being extremely busy, Yellowstone Tipis is tucked juuuuust enough off the main thoroughfare that youโll enjoy peace and quiet after a day full of adventure. A stay here is the perfect complement to any Yellowstone itinerary!

Hawkeye Suite
If youโre traveling with a group, you may want to check out the Hawkeye Suite at Yellowstone Tipis. Located above the Tipi Lodge, the 2,400 square foot suite sleeps up to 10 guests with 4 bedrooms and 3.5 baths.ย

And if youโve been to this area before, you know that finding group accommodation is tricky without everyone having to stay in individual hotel rooms! Who would have ever expected to find this setup while glamping near Yellowstone?!
Note that the Hawkeye Suite is open year-round and is only rented as the entire property.
Things to Know About Yellowstone Glamping
Although the tipis are plush and cozy inside, Yellowstone glamping means youโre still technically sleeping outside. With that in mind, there are several things to be aware of before visiting.ย
Yellowstone is in bear country. A large free-roaming elk population also calls this area home, so itโs crucial that you properly store any food. That means no leftovers in your tipi or sโmores residue by the firepit! Thereโs a fridge in the lodge for guest storage, or you can put food items in your vehicle before going to bed.ย
Being that youโre sleeping in a tipi without sealing doors, thereโs also a very real possibility of encountering a critter or twoโฆinside. If you see a spider, lizard, flying insect, or anything else, remind yourself that, much like camping, youโre sleeping in its home. For the record, we didnโt see a single creature during our late July stay.ย
Finally, although Yellowstone Tipis is only open in the summer, the weather can still be quite unpredictable. Pack and wear layers so that youโre comfortable no matter what Mother Nature surprises you with. This is Montana, after all, so she will throw you a curveball!
As long as youโre well prepared and have the right mindset, this Yellowstone glamping experience will be one you never forget!
Best Time to Go Glamping Near Yellowstone
Yellowstone Tipis is open seasonally, typically from early May through the end of September.ย
If youโre hoping to avoid some of the crowds in the park, we recommend visiting as close to the season opening or closing as possible (May or September). Having said that, keep in mind that Yellowstone is notoriously one of the countryโs busiest national parks.
Remember, if you want to visit in the off-season, you can still stay in the Hawkeye Suite at Yellowstone Tipis.ย
Getting to Yellowstone Tipis
Yellowstone Tipis is in Gardiner, Montana, just over one mile from Yellowstoneโs North Entrance.ย
If this is your main destination or first stop, flying into the Bozeman Yellowstone Internationalย Airport (BZN) is your best bet. The super scenic drive is just under 1.5 hours, taking you down by Livingston and then through aptly-named Paradise Valley along the Yellowstone River.ย
Since Yellowstone glamping is a summer-only activity, you shouldnโt need to worry about any inclement weather or road closures (besides the occasional bison traffic jam). However, if youโre staying at the Hawkeye Suite in the winter, youโll need to pay close attention to both.ย
Also, remember that Yellowstoneโs North Entrance is the only one that remains open to regular vehicle traffic in the winter. The rest of the park roads close, remaining open only to skiing, snowmobiles, and snowcoach tours.ย
If youโre already in the park or traveling from Grand Teton, simply head toward Mammoth Hot Springs. Gardiner is five miles north, just on the other side of the North Entrance.ย
