Yellowstone Glamping Tipis: Luxury Lodging Near the Park
One way to make an already bucket list-worthy trip even more memorable is the unique experience of Yellowstone glamping. At Yellowstone Tipis, stay in an authentic canvas tipi with plenty of upscale amenities, just steps from the north entrance of Yellowstone National Park.
Yellowstone National Park, celebrated for being the world’s first national park, is home to stunning landscapes, spectacular geologic wonders, and abundant wildlife. It’s truly a one-of-a-kind, magical place to visit — and a stay at Yellowstone Tipis only enhances this magic.
Not only do the tipis offer an unforgettable Montana glamping—AKA glamorous camping— experience, they’re also about as close as you can get to the park without staying inside its boundaries.
Yellowstone Tipis is in Gardiner, just four minutes from the North Entrance (the only one open year-round and the only place you can go whitewater rafting in the park!).
While Yellowstone is infamous for being extremely busy, Yellowstone Tipis is juuuuust far enough off the main thoroughfare in Gardiner that you’ll enjoy peace and quiet after a day full of adventure.
Much, much quieter than the town of West Yellowstone, a stay here is the perfect complement to any Yellowstone itinerary!

The property thoughtfully designed its outdoor lounge area, where guests can relax around the fire pit and take in the best views (i.e.; watch for wildlife!) with coffee or cozy up by the fire in the evenings.
When you manage to pull yourself away from the Great Outdoors of Montana, start your Yellowstone glamping experience by stepping into your unique retreat: a luxurious, custom-decorated tipi.
Each one is just under 400 square feet and equipped with either two queen beds or one king bed, as well as plush linens, seating, a dresser, a fan for hot days, and a space heater for cool nights, which occur even in the peak of summer.
Yellowstone Tipis guests have access to private bathrooms in the community bathhouse. If you’ve ever been glamping before, you know a private bathroom is a bit of a rarity!
At this Yellowstone glamping resort, you also have full access to the Tipi Lodge, with a large indoor dining area, microwave, coffee station, and TV with streaming channels. It’s essentially a cozy living room with gorgeous mountain views! And if you need it, Yellowstone Tipis even has high-speed wifi.

If you’re traveling with a group, you may want to check out the Hawkeye Suite at Yellowstone Tipis. Located above the Tipi Lodge, the 2,400 square foot suite sleeps up to 10 guests with 4 bedrooms and 3.5 baths.
The Hawkeye Suite has central air conditioning, strong wi-fi, a large dining table, private deck, fully-equipped kitchen, and absolutely stunning views into Yellowstone. It’s the perfect place to relax, enjoy time with family and friends, and regroup after busy days exploring the park.
And if you’ve been to this area before, you know that finding larger rentals for family vacations or friend groups is tricky without everyone having to stay in individual hotel rooms!
Who would have ever expected to find this setup while staying at a rustic glamping accommodation near Yellowstone?!
Note that the Hawkeye Suite is open year-round and is only rented as the entire property.
Things to Know About Yellowstone Glamping
Although the tipis are plush and cozy inside, Yellowstone glamping means you’re still technically sleeping outside. With that in mind, there are several things to be aware of before visiting.
Yellowstone is in bear country. A large free-roaming elk population also calls this area home, so it’s crucial to properly store any food. That means no leftovers in your tipi or s’mores residue by the nightly campfire!
There’s a fridge in the lodge for guest storage, or you can secure food items in your vehicle.
Being that you’re sleeping in a tipi without sealing doors, there’s also a very real possibility of encountering a critter or two…inside your own tent. If you see a spider, lizard, flying insect, or anything else, remind yourself that, much like camping, you’re sleeping in its home.
For the record, we didn’t see a single creature, grizzly bears or otherwise, during our late July stay.
Finally, although Yellowstone Tipis is only open in the summer, the weather can still be quite unpredictable. Pack and wear layers so that you’re comfortable no matter what Mother Nature surprises you with. This is Montana, after all, so she will throw you a curveball!
As long as you’re well prepared and have the right mindset, this Yellowstone glamping experience will be one you never forget!
Best Time to Go Glamping Near Yellowstone
Yellowstone Tipis is open seasonally, typically from early May through the end of September. Which is a good thing, because Yellowstone is one of the best places to visit in the summer!
If you’re hoping to avoid some of the crowds in the park, we recommend visiting as close to the season opening or closing as possible (May or September). Having said that, keep in mind that Yellowstone is notoriously one of the country’s busiest national parks.
And remember, if you want to visit in the off-season, you can still stay in the Hawkeye Suite at Yellowstone Tipis.
Getting to Yellowstone Tipis
Yellowstone Tipis is in Gardiner, Montana, just over one mile from Yellowstone’s North Entrance.
If this is your main destination or first stop, flying into the Bozeman Yellowstone International Airport (BZN) is your best bet. The super scenic drive is just under 1.5 hours, taking you down by Livingston and through aptly-named Paradise Valley along the Yellowstone River.
Since Yellowstone glamping is a summer-only activity, you shouldn’t need to worry about any inclement weather or road closures (besides the occasional bison traffic jam). However, if you’re staying at the Hawkeye Suite in the winter, you’ll need to pay close attention to both.
Also, remember that Yellowstone’s North Entrance is the only one that remains open to regular vehicle traffic in the winter. The rest of the park roads close, remaining open only to skiing, snowmobiles, and snowcoach tours.
If you’re coming from popular attractions like the Old Faithful geyser or the Grand Canyon of Yellowstone, or traveling up from Grand Teton National Park, simply head toward Mammoth Hot Springs. Gardiner is five miles north, just on the other side of the North Entrance.
